Sa'id ibn Zayd was born around 600 CE into the Banu Adi clan of the Quraysh in Makkah. His father, Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl, was a well-known monotheist (Hanif) who rejected idol worship even before the advent of Islam.
Growing up with a father who actively sought the religion of Ibrahim (Abraham, peace be upon him), Sa'id was raised in an environment that valued monotheism and questioned the prevailing idolatry of Makkah.
